Who's this "Olofson"...?
Well... I'm basically a stubborn, creative perfectionist - at least with regard to
things I care about. (I tend to entirely avoid things I don't care about. :-)
I'd say I'm generally a bit lazy, but I can work very hard for long periods of
time for something I really want.
Unfortunately, I'm also perfectly capable of taking on too many projects at once,
working myself until I drop. Can't have it all... ;-)
Once a programmer, always a programmer.
I started programming at the age of ten, and that was in 1985.
(You get to do the math! ;-) I've never been able to completely stay away from
it for any longer periods. It's highly addictive and creatively satisfying.
The dream was about games.
Sound and music became more and more interesting, and eventually, I got an
Amiga, and got into "modules". Then Pandora (see below) ruined my games
programming plans! ;-) During the next few years, I more or less dropped
programming for music, and switched to real synthesizers. I decided to start
singing, and "sort of" learned from scratch in two years.
The dream was about the pop music industry.
Lots of stuff happened. Started working with real time programming and control
engineering, started hacking an audio sequencer for Windows, got totally fed up
with Windows, almost gave up programing, got into RTLinux and consequently
Linux, and got more serious than ever about programming. Since then I've been
playing around with some game projects, but most of my spare time is probably
spent hacking audio related stuff these days.
Universal machines.
I'll always be a programmer, and when I'm prevented from fixing something I
don't like, I feel frustrated, helpless, angry and basically just sick.
Computers are universal machines - not some toys that should do only
what "Big Brother" wants them to. It is indeed very alarming to see that the vast
majority of computer users these days have no clue about this.
People think a computer is "Windows and Internet Explorer". Well, it's not! A
computer is processing power, memory and a bunch of interfaces to the outside
world. When you buy one, you should be allowed to use it in any way you like.
That what it's designed for! Please, do not forget this.

I am a Thrust-ship.
I am small and tricky - where you think I am, I probably am not.
I can work very fast, but I tend to go about things in a round about way,
which often leaves me effectively standing still. I hate rocks. Bloody rocks.
